Ms. Mary Rafferty began learning piano at the age of 4 years old and started writing her own compositions when she was just 5 years old. She informally began teaching her cousins to play different instruments when she was 11 years old. Since then, she was awarded a scholarship to play French horn at the Catholic University of America. She then studied under Matthew Mayhem, Associate Principal French Horn player of the Cleveland Orchestra. While attending college in 2004, she decided to put her love of music and kids together by starting Music for Life Kids. The piano programs were so popular in Ohio she decided to expand to the greater Washington DC area. To date the program serves over 100 locations and 2500 kids per week. Music for Life’s mission is to bring Music to Kids everywhere!
